What is a computer virus?
Computer viruses are small programs designed to spread from one computer to another and interfere with their operation. A virus might corrupt or delete data from your computer. Besides, these viruses may use your email program to spread virus to other computers, even erase your entire hard drive.
However, computer virus is often spread through attachments in emails or instant messaging. For this reason, you should never open attachments from your e-mail unless you know that who has sent the test. Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files. This type of the latest computer virus is also spread through downloads from the Internet. And they can be hidden in illicit software or other files or programs you might download.

Trojan horse is a malicious program which hides in another legitimate program and produces its harmful effects to run the latter. In this case, it is not capable of infecting other files; and it runs only once but usually it brings destructive effect.
Chameleons are a bit similar to the Trojans. It disguises as commercial program or as game where the user easily trusts them, but in reality they cause can severe damage in you computer.
Worm: It’s a program whose sole purpose is to go consuming system memory; it copies itself on until RAM overflows. It might cause serious trouble in your PC.
Virus macros: A macro is a sequence of mouse and keyboard which disguises as a single key, symbol or command. They are very useful when this group of instructions repeatedly need. Macro viruses affect files and templates containing them posing as a macro, and act until the file is opened or used.
Virus on writing: overwritten attacked inside the files, making the content thereof is lost.
Virus Program: Commonly infected files with EXE, COM, DRV, BIN, DLL and SYS, the first two are attacked more frequently because they are the most used.
Boot or boot viruses: These are viruses that infect boot sectors and boot (Boot Record) of the disks and the master boot sector (Master Boot Record) of hard disks; they can also infect the partition, table of the disk.
Residents Virus: It automatically places in the computer memory and it executes as a program or file.
Voracious virus: These viruses alter the content of the files indiscriminately. Usually one of these viruses will replace the executable program in your own code. They are very dangerous because they are dedicated to completely destroy data they can find.
To avoid computer viruses, it is essential to keep your computer with computer latest tools and antivirus updated, stay informed about the latest threats, run your computer as a standard user (not as the administrator) and follow some basic rules when you surf the Internet, download files, and open attachments.
